Read MoreHappy Friday, friends! It's been a few sweet weeks since Nolan Bear Bryan was born on August 8, 2017! When his sweet Mama asked me if I could do some natural, lifestyle-inspired, newborn/family portraits at home, I was absolutely thrilled! You may remember them from her maternity shoot months back! (Also, check out this shoot on FILM!!) :D Not only are we over the moon excited about this sweet boy's arrival, we are having a blast getting to know his personality too! When I arrived, we had hoped he'd be sleepy and moldable after his breakfast, but instead, he switched gears on us and was wide awake pretty much the whole time! He would love Mama when he was hungry and fell asleep in Daddy's arms afterwards since he's comforted by Daddy after eating! LOL! It made for the sweetest shoot.
Read MoreI must have been 15. My mom bought me an outfit that, while I was grateful, I felt like a complete SQUARE in it. The outfit was cute, y'all! But to an impressionable 15 year old who wanted so badly to fit in, square wasn't something I could take a chance on being. But between dressing up in outrageous theatre costumes at every chance and head banging in the school parking lot with my friend Jamie, there wasn't much hope for redemption.
Read MoreYou're not a photographer. You're not trying to be. But you and a large percentage of the world has a cellphone with a camera on it. There's no escaping it. You view Facebook albums online of people who have had professional portraits made of whatever event is going on lately. You even see the classic mom's-iphone-pic-of-child where the camera is angled downward because we're taller than our kids, duh. And they are CUTE!!!! But somehow, your brain just doesn't function like that and all your pictures are blurry, too bright, too dark, have awful flash, or even feature the beloved finger over the camera. Maybe you just want to take one good picture of your child before school and or before a meltdown.

Here's a few tips for for your trip so everything goes smoothly and you can focus on what you are traveling to do.....have a great photoshoot! I hope this list poses more as a great place to be reminded of practical, well-known items rather than "I've never thought of that before!" items. ;) So perhaps this prompts you to get something done on your list of pre-travel to-do's.
Read MoreIt's that time, my friends! Senior year is here! And if anything, it means having so much fun making memories that it flies by in the blink of an eye. I want to be a part of your highlight year in high school by creating the senior portrait experience you dream about. You know, the hair, the makeup, locations nobody else has been to, and the chance to work what your mama gave ya!
Read MoreEarly this morning, the kitties meowed to go outside as they usually do. A bit later, after coming inside for a mandatory water break, they darted back outside to continue playing in the great outdoors! This time, I sent Bella out with them since she hadn't been outside yet. I ended up hanging out outside to watch them since it was a mild 70-something degrees somewhere in the 7:00 hour. All the animals frolicked about for a bit and then for the first time I've seen, both kitties made a mad dash for our mango tree and skittered right up the trunk and into the shady bungalow! I hung out a bit under the tree to make sure they could get down by themselves and ended up taking practice shots with my telephoto zoom lens. They were high up in the tree so it was the perfect opportunity to shoot with a lens made for shots at a distance.
Read MoreIt was such an honor to photograph the marriage of two sweet, young hearts! I am beyond excited to share this wedding tonight. My favorite part of their story is that exactly one year before, to the day, Hunter was helping Alexa and her family unpack their moving trailer. Little did she know that exactly one year later, she would be standing at the altar of her new church with that boy carrying the boxes. My heart! <3

You're super excited to be of service but you have a few concerns about being the shadowy figure with a camera at church. Here are a few tips on how to be both efficient and respectful during the service!
Read MoreWelcome to the 3rd and possibly final installation of our anniversary trip to the mountains! There are a lot of extra photos of Elk and random fishing-in-the-river shots, but this post holds my favorites. For the last part of our trip, we stayed with Joshua's grandparents in their cozy camper by Deep Creek. They are backed up right against the perfect rushing creek that we went fishing in. It was my heaven! Except for the fact that when we went fishing in the river, I cast all of G-Pa's lures up into the lush foliage of the riverbanks since I'm used to fishing down here in wide-open Florida! LOL. And if it wasn't in the trees, it was stuck in the river rocks at the bottom. Looks like I'll be visiting more often to practice my casting skills! :D
Read MoreOur cabin we stayed in was tucked away on the side of a mountain that was rich with foliage and life. Everything was SO GREEN. We would wake up in the mornings to a delightful temperature of high 60's and even though we visited places where the temperature rose to the high eighties (and possibly even 90 degrees somewhere in there), it never felt humid or choking. Of course, it seemed to the locals that we brought a lot of rain with us from Florida. LOL. This is the very same cabin and town we spent our honeymoon in last year and it was a joy to come back to it again! It is officially our special place. Last time, it was our first time up there and there was so much to see and do in the Smoky Mountains. This time, we could enjoy the cabin and town a bit more since we had done so much last time. We woke up late, ate breakfast, moseyed around the cabin for a bit, then spent most of the afternoon and evening out and about. These are a few snapshots of around the cabin we love so much!

Read MoreHello! Happy Fri-yay! Today's installment of my film adventures! This post isn't about another type of camera, but a comparison between film and digital. When in the mountains, I decided to take the same frames with two different cameras. I started with film, then followed up with digital. In the first shot of every set below, you'll see a film photo and then the second photo will be digital. How fun!

A while back, I wrote a short post on what I listen to when I am wanting to be inspired or feeling inspired. Sometimes your brain just needs a boost! I want to continue this series today and share a list of some of my favorite material/books to read. These items are more responsible for grounding me and reminding me of who I am.
