Gosh, I can’t believe 2019 is almost over! It will be 2020 in less than 100 days! I’m sitting with a cup of coffee in hand and I find myself looking at my wedding portfolio so far and unexpectedly thinking about how far I’ve come. I remember prepping for my first wedding like yesterday. I shot my last wedding of 2019 this past Saturday and by default, I’m reflecting on the time passed. Here are a few things I’ve learned since being the girl behind the camera that hot July day in 2017.

It’s been quiet and stable over here for the past few weeks. I am deeply enjoying the early days of coming season of transition and rest. Living on the east coast, I decided to leave my phone at home, zip down to the river, throw my backup camera on auto and snapped a few pics. It was refreshing to take a snap of what caught my eye initially. It was the most fun.

A personal film to remember moments and memories.  

I wasn’t sure what to call this post, but I finally settled on divided because that’s the place from which this post is being written. As I fast from social media, one of the most unexpected challenges I’ve felt is being prompted to reevaluate my film work….namely, film stocks. Film is such a huge part of my workflow now, it’s almost like questioning my work entirely! (yikes!) Don’t worry, it’s not as bad as all that. LOL! It’s more exciting than anything!

Just a heads up, these images aren’t very wintry at all! LOL! I hope it’s not too much of a stab at the folks hunkering down through all the winter storms up North! If it helps any, the temperature while I was out photographing these images was in the low 60’s and high 50’s! (Brr, I know.)

Today I just want to lift up a praise of gratitude. I woke up this morning with such a spirit of thankfulness. There have been so many wonderful things in my life and business that are a result of grace. You know, things you can’t or didn’t orchestrate yourself. Opportunities you prayed for and then happened even though you have no control over the situation. Grace upon grace. So know today that as a child of God, your prayers do not fall on deaf ears. They do not go unheard. What are you thankful for today?

Hi, Kindreds!  

Gosh, it feels so good to be home. Joshua and I returned home last night after our four-day Thanksgiving holiday. We shuffled all our things from our overstuffed car to our home and bustled around, getting settled in. We emptied our bags, put our things away, found new homes for our Black Friday finds. I tucked my things away in my office and let them be, then I slipped into something comfy. I diffused cinnamon and Lemon Vitality to freshen and liven the place back up, and did one good wipe-down of all the counters. Having fresh wiped counters is therapeutic for me. Even if they don’t really need wiping, I wipe them anyway sometimes.

How are things going?! I'm over here cooking up ideas in this creative brain juice of mine! One of my favorite things about being a business owner is how I get to make my own ideas come to life. It's up to me and only me to make things happen. Lately, I've been seeing how many of those little details I've planned in the past year or two have fallen into place, and how they actually succeed. 

I can always sense when a change of seasons is approaching, both in the natural and in the spirit. It's been a time of change for us, as I pursue new things in my business and as Joshua and I pursue new things together. Here's an update!

So while building my website (specifically, my Meet Kailee page) a while back, I wanted to get creative with the information I shared about myself and how it was presented, but most every About page I come across is so saturated.  So in the end, I kept it simple, concise, and genuine. 

Today, I'd like to share a few more fun things about myself that you probably don't know! 

Sweet and simple. The way I like it! 

1. My comedic influence is as strong as a toothpick. I'm not that funny. I'm quirky, but not funny. My timing is always off and it just doesn't get any better. I'm the only person that thinks I'm funny......HAHA
